Ennis O’Brien LLC is a unique consultancy that draws on over 25 years of experience in the fields of arts and culture, specializing in strategic communications planning, media and public relations, and crisis and issues management.

Prior to co-founding Ennis O’Brien in 2017, Betsy Ennis and Lucy O’Brien spent their careers working with major museums including The Museum of Modern Art, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, and the American Museum of Natural History, among others. Lucy retired from the firm in 2022.

Collaborating closely with her clients, Betsy develops and implements communications and media-relations plans that may be ongoing institutional efforts, or plans that are tailored to specific exhibitions, building projects, or other milestones. Depending on the client’s goals and needs, Betsy may assemble a team of additional professionals—from writers and investigative reporters, to social-media experts, media trainers, graphic designers, and more—to ensure that the very best thinking and highest level of skill inform their work. All activities are founded on an understanding of what uniquely defines each organization the firm represents and how best to communicate that to the media and other audiences.
